Johannes & Philipp Ballier · About us

Two beekeepers.
One passion.

We are father and son. We share a love of bees and the countryside on our doorstep.

Close to the bees

Beekeeping begins
with the colony.

For us, the work starts long before the honey reaches a jar. We care for our colonies throughout the year. Every visit to an apiary shows us something different: life on the comb, the work of the colony and changes in its surroundings.

Our apiaries are in Kassel, Kaufungen and Liebenau. The places differ, but our approach stays the same: we care for the colonies and keep the harvests from each location and season separate.

We want to share this closeness. The photographs and location stories on this website show our own beekeeping — the apiaries and landscapes that are part of our everyday lives.

How we work

Knowing
where it comes from.

The name of the location appears on the jar. Spring and summer harvests stay separate. This keeps the honey tied to a particular place and harvest, rather than disappearing into a shared blend.

We describe the locations and their surroundings in general terms deliberately. Some apiaries are on private land, and all are places where we work. Visits are therefore only possible by prior arrangement with us.
